Staff
The members of the staff belong to the seven participating universities. There are two categories of staff: teachers and postdocs. Both require acknowledgment in their field, according to international publications. But postdocs have obtained their PhD less than five years ago, and do not have (co)responsibility in supervising dissertation research.
In 1994, the establishment of graduate schools (’onderzoekscholen’) and the rearrangement of staff members because of these schools, caused IOPS to introduce a new category for those who are – for formal reasons – not or no longer able to be part of the regular IOPS staff. They are called associated staff and fellows, and their requirements are equal to those of regular teachers and postdocs. Dissertation students of these associated teachers can be admitted to IOPS as an external dissertation student.
